Ordering, shipping and delivery

My address is not within your delivery area. How can I place an order?

We deliver to over 200 post code areas in Melbourne metro. But it might happen that your address is not in our list or it is not recognised. No dramas, send us an email to hola@lacroqueteria.com.au with your details and your intended order. We will get back to you to confirm if we are able to deliver.

When should I expect the delivery of my order?

We deliver every Wednesday 09:00am to 6:00pm (for all orders placed Tuesday midnight in the same week). We send you an email when your order is on for delivery, just at the time our delivery run starts. If you require a more precise estimation of the delivery time, send us an email to hola@lacroqueteria.com.au and we will be able to assist.

By adding notes to your order or sending us an email to hola@lacroqueteria.com.au, you can let us know any specific delivery instructions and your time preference within our delivery window. We will do our best to schedule the delivery according to your request, but it may not be possible depending on the number of orders and the distances between deliveries on the day. Confirmation will be provided by La Croqueteria via email.

If I'm not at home to receive my order, will you drop off?

Our refrigerated (-18°C) delivery service ensures that your frozen croquetas arrive in perfect condition, without breaking the cold chain. If no one is at home, La Croqueteria will not drop off your order unless we receive instructions to do so. Leave some notes at the time to place your order or send us an email to hola@lacroqueteria.com.au. It could be a good idea to leave a cool bag or esky at the door when possible.

If we are not able to deliver your order, we will contact you to arrange a second delivery or pick up. A delivery fee may apply.

If Wednesday is a Public Holiday, when will you be delivering?

The next day, Thursday.

If you are cancelling, we will process a refund in the following 3 days. Please note payment processing fees are not refundable.

How to cook

What is the best way to cook croquetas?

Fried in vegetable oil. We like sunflower oil, but any kind of vegetable oil is valid. Pre-heat the oil at 180 C. You can cook them straight from the freezer or thawed. At the end, leave them resting on paper towel for a couple of minutes to drain excess oil.

Deep fry in a small saucepan.

Fill the saucepan with enough oil to cover the croquetas and pre-heat. Once the oil is hot (180 C), place the croquetas in and ensure they do not touch each other. Cook for approx. 4 min or until golden.

Shallow fry in a frypan.

Fill the pan with enough oil to cover half a croqueta and pre-heat. Once the oil is hot (180 C), place the croquetas in and turn to coat all sides in oil.  Fry for approx. 4 min gently turning from time to time until golden.

In Air Fryer

Spray the croquetas with vegetable oil. Pre-heat the air fryer at maximum temperature for 3 min. before introducing a small number of pieces on the basket. Settings will vary depending on brand and model of your air-fryer and its power and size. You might have to find out the right time and temperature for your machine. As a reference, we cook them at 200 C for approx. 13 min plus another 4 min at 180 C. Gently turn around the croquetas from time to time until golden.

What oil is best to fry croquetas?

Vegetable oil with a smoke point of at least 190 C (375F) and preferably with neutral flavour like sunflower or canola.

Can I use an air-fryer?

Yes, you can. You might not get the same perfect golden look of deep frying, but the texture and flavours will be the same.

Can I cook my croquetas frozen?

Yes, you can cook them straight from the freezer. You can cook them also thawed or partially thawed, just adjust the cooking time and oil temperature.

Can I cook La Croqueteria croquetas in the oven?

Our croquetas are to be fried so, unless your oven has an air-frying function, you cannot cook them in the oven. We use only free-range egg and breadcrumbs to coat them, differently to sophisticated coating formulations used in other products to make them sturdier and oven friendly.

Can I re-heat my croquetas?

Ideally, the croquetas are to be served minutes after frying. After 15 - 30 min, they will start losing their original crunchiness. Flavour of the inside filling will be the same, it would be a matter of texture. Re-heating is not advisable.
